Science and Me

I've always learned science quickly, majored in science in college, and became a science (and math) teacher, so you might expect me to have some thought and opinions about science. And I do.

I think science is great. I think that deep down, science reflects a huge facet of human nature and the way we think about the world. I think science is within everyone's reach.

But science is hard: it takes discipline, humility and brutal honesty. And it isn't the only way of thinking about or understanding the world we live in; it doesn't satisfy every urge and desire that humans have. And so there is room in my life for things like art, and spirituality, and sports, and... so many other things that it takes to capture the richness of human experience.

And that's it for now. I told you this is a work in progress.
